Tallit Mezuzah Case – Blues
$145.00
This mezuzah case by Ruth Shapiro in vivid shades of blues and greens is made to look like the woven fabric of a Jewish prayer shawl or “tallit.” The effect was created by carving wax “stitch by stitch”, then casting in bronze and hand painting with metal dye. The fringe or tzitzit are fabricated in brass and move freely.

Meet the Artist: Ruth Shapiro
Ruth Shapiro is an artist, nurse, wife and mother, and not necessarily in that order.
Ruth Shapiro handcrafts fine metal art. No factories, no imports, no employees, just wonderful designs and precision by an artist widely recognized in the United States, Canada, and Israel. Traditional themes with contemporary expression are seen in all of her creations. Her artwork varies from classical to contemporary to whimsical and fun, and her sense of humor and warmth are sprinkled throughout.
Ruth fuses rich symbolism and visual stories her metal-working skills. In 1988, she went to Israel to learn techniques from silver masters, and to enhance her spiritual development. Her work has taken Ruth to shows and exhibits all over the United States, Israel and Canada. One of Ruth's yads was carried into space!
