Shalom (Peace) Coat and Hat Hook

Fun, functional, and eco-friendly decor. These recycled bike chains were formed into the word “SHALOM” with hooks to hang coats, keys, or jewelry.

The artisans collect metal scraps and bicycle spokes to create the bowls. Then they will clean them to prepare them for use. Often, men and women work together to create these pieces.  The women shape the letters that will go on the bowl and the men weld together the words and shapes. By purchasing a Fair Trade item, you are empowering women and promoting social justice by working directly with underprivileged artisans and paying them fair wages for handmade, quality products. Because of the fair wages artisans are paid, they are able to bring home enough enough money to support their entire families and send their children to school to receive an education.
