Sharon Sorken
Prior to moving to Santa Fe, Sharon lived in Westchester County, New York, where she was known to many as a knitting and crochet guru and instructor extraordinaire. She also worked as a knitwear designer for Artyarns, a luxury yarn company. As she explored Santa Fe, she was both impressed with and inspired by the exciting and creative work on display by the many local artisans, and she became interested in designing beaded jewelry, especially crochet beadwork. There is no limit to the colors, textures, materials, and designs that she is able to work with. Along with the many types of beads Sharon uses, she enjoys working with 24kt gold vermiel beads, and stones such as tourmalines, sapphires, and rubies. Some of her jeweled patterns are based on nature, including patterns that are inspired by snakes in the area.
"I feel fortunate to be able to do the work that I love and to show at the Aesthetic Sense. They are great supporters of fine artisans and craftspeople, and are on a great mission!"
