Meredith Berlin
In Meredith Berlin's 's own words: "I want to share my bio with you, not only because you should know who is making your jewelry, but also because mine is a story of an “encore” career and the belief that we are all capable of a second acts.
Before I began designing and creating jewelry, I spent three decades as a successful magazine writer, editor, television producer and broadcast personality. As a journalist, I wrote for numerous publications and was Editor in Chief of several including SEVENTEEN. I loved being a magazine editor. At SEVENTEEN, I was able to delve into one of my most important passions: the mind of a teenage girl. But in 1999, with three small children and a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, I decided to retire from the magazine world to concentrate on my family and health. During the new millennium I worked as a freelance journalist, taught college writing classes and wrote a novel. But I also created a bucket list, and on that list was “make jewelry.”
I found a perfect school and studio near my home and spent almost every day at the studio. In addition to taking beginning classes, I also took masters’ classes in etching, enameling, stone setting, cold connections...the list goes on. After almost ten years of wondering what I would “do next,” I found it.
Jewelry making, for me, is a calling. There are not enough hours in the day to create, to learn, and to learn still more. I have found a community of like minded artisans who encourage each other, and work hard while laughing till they cry.
I was lucky to work for a living in a field I adored. I have been doubly blessed to find a new path that is every bit as rewarding."
Meredith gives a portion of her total sales to MS research.
