Michal Golan
Michal Golan was born in Haifa, Israel. The child of two scientists, Michal always loved art (and dogs!). After finishing high school, she moved with her father to America and enrolled in college, receiving her undergraduate degree in graphic art at the University of Maryland. Michal then enrolled in NYU for a Master’s degree in studio art where dhr focused on abstract paintings and printmaking. In order to support myself during school, she began designing jewelry and selling it at craft fairs. Demand for Michal's jewelry quickly grew and after she graduated, she started making jewelry full time. She met my future husband Michael, and they became business partners.
Michal views each piece that she crafts as a small work of art. Everything is made by hand; hand making all the products ensures the highest quality and affords Michal the opportunity to employ an entire studio of skilled artisans. Each piece is unique due to the handmade process.
For the past 27 years, Michal's studio has been based in Hell's Kitchen, NYC. Although many fashion companies now outsource production and no longer produce in the US, Michal has never considered it an option. NYC inspires her work and the vibrant energy of the city is reflected in everything made by the studio.
