Handcrafted Wood Purim Gragger (Grogger) & Stand
Handcrafted by Robert Richter in his small woodworking shop in New York City using nonendangered woods and recycled wood scraps, this wood Purim gragger is a perfect blend of function and form. The mechanism allows the user to make enough noise to drown out the name of Hamen as it is read from the Megillah; the design on the top recalls the walls of Jerusalem. Can be safely displayed on a specially designed stand.
Materials: Grogger: crotch walnut, cherry, teak, bubinga, and black veneer; Stand: Lucite
Size: 8″ x 2 1/4″ x ” x 7 1/2″
Meet the Artist: Robert Richter
Since adolescence, Robert Richter has been fascinated by the creative and artistic possibilities presented by wood. Throughout his career as a surgeon, he continued to pursue this craft. Now retired from his medical practice, he is rarely far away from his tools and collection of woods. The substance and grace of his works derive not only from their carefully proportioned shape, but also from the polished beauty of the fine woods he employs.Learn More
