The Aesthetic Sense Ltd.: Fine Art & Judaica is a gallery specializing in judaic art, sometimes functional, frequently whimsical, always beautiful. Celebrating the beauty inherent in most judaica, The Aesthetic Sense features unique, hand-made, one-of-a-kind pieces in a bright and welcoming setting reminiscent of art galleries nestled within the white stone walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. The gallery’s collection of distinctive pieces appeals to those with both a modern and a traditional bent, as each piece reflects a fresh and creative view of traditional Judaic art. The Aesthetic Sense’s approach to judaica is to treat each piece of judaica, no matter how functional or mundane its intended use, as a piece of art. In this approach, The Aesthetic Sense not only continues Jewish tradition, it revives and innovates. The peacefulness and beauty of the gallery reflect the spiritual journey in which many of us are engaged.

Our collection comes from around the world, featuring artists from Safed, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and the kibbutzim and moshavs of Israel, from Europe, Russia, South Africa and Latin America, and from each of the United States. Our artists use a variety of media in creating their judaica, including silver and other metals, glass, wood, and fabric. Our framed art includes paper cuts, one of the oldest Judaic mediums, original paintings, prints, photographs, and felt hangings.

The Aesthetic Sense has universal appeal to people of different backgrounds who share a love of beautiful things and a sense of spirituality. The staff at The Aesthetic Sense is willing and able to educate both the veteran collector of judaica and the newcomer about the functions of different judaic pieces.

The Aesthetic Sense thanks the residents of the surrounding communities and synagogues for their overwhelming support. The growth of synagogues and chavuras in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Rockland Counties, including those in Bedford, Mahopac, Chappaqua, Scarsdale, New Rochelle, Rye, Yorktown, Somers, Katonah, New City, Pound Ridge and White Plains, as well as those in the nearby Connecticut towns of Ridgefield, Stamford, Greenwich and Danbury, the growing presence of the Chabad in Westchester and Connecticut, the resurgence of Jewish Community Centers (JCC’s) in Pleasantville, Tarrytown and Scarsdale, the increasing popularity of Jewish day schools such as Solomon Schechter of Westchester, Bi-Cultural Day in Stamford, Westchester Day, and Westchester-Fairfield Academy, and the continued vitality of areas such as Riverdale, are making Northern Westchester one of the fastest growing and most welcoming Jewish communities today.

As with any fine work of art, originals must be seen and often touched to be fully appreciated. For those of you unable to visit us, however, a tour through this virtual gallery will provide a feel for the extraordinary beauty and handmade quality of the judaica found in The Aesthetic Sense
